Sayulita Yoga

Our yoga instructor, Vanessa, moved from Guadalajara to Sayulita over 14 years ago. A teacher of Sayulita Yoga classes, she has been practicing yoga, earning certifications and exploring different styles such as Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Restorative and Yin, for the last 10 years.

Vanessa has turned her passion for yoga in a veritable lifestyle and inspires people around her to use their bodies as a channel to their soul. “Yoga and surf go so well together, she says. They both demand so much body awareness and mindfulness.”

Benefits Of Blending Yoga & Surfing

Sayulita Mexico Yoga

Yoga and Surfing go hand-in-hand. They are activities which both help to improve strength and alertness. A strong physical core is key to the beginning of surfing; and Yoga stretches will not only assist with the prevention of both muscle and joints stiffness, but also help surfers breathe properly. Together, these two disciplines can get you in touch with the very essence of life. Yoga teaches us to breathe and relax; while releasing again and again, our circumstances out into the ocean.

Class Types

Morning Yoga

This signature class consists of an open level series of stretches that wakes the body and mind, and gets your energy flowing. Be prepared to have your mind flow into the ocean. This is a fresh, perfect start to a calming day. (75 minutes class)

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa means Movement! This popular yoga style not only teaches you how to move, but move with grace, from your core. This is an appropriate style for surfers. It’s a combination of sequence standing, heat building, and a cool down seated sequence that helps you develop strength and flexibility. (90 minutes class)

Yin Yoga

This is a restorative class. Yin calms, balances and relaxes the body and mind, and is most popularly practiced by surfers around the world, to enable them to increase flexibility in their body joints. Yin focuses mainly on fascial and tension release after swimming or surfing activities. (90 minutes class)

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtaga is an extremely energetic yoga style. Just as both surfing and yoga demand strength, flexibility and a lot of mental balance, ashtaga is perfect for the nurturing of strong vibrant energy; and this tremendously helps surfers in certain moments out in the water. (90 minutes class)

Integrative Yoga

This is an easy flowing complete yoga class, complemented with the sound and vibration of crystal singing bowls. During this evening class, slow flowing movement with awareness and alignment is quite beneficial for healing purposes and soreness from surfing. (90 minutes class)
